The Slalom Race is one of the most dynamic tasks in the competition, requiring the AUV to navigate through a series of colored gates positioned along a winding course. In this task, the AUV must weave in and out of the gates while maintaining speed, balance, and precision.
The gates will be arranged in an alternating pattern, creating a zigzag path that tests the AUV’s maneuverability and agility. The challenge lies in the vehicle's ability to change direction smoothly and quickly while avoiding collisions with the gates. The AUV must balance speed and control, as both are essential for successful navigation through the course.
To excel in this task, the AUV’s control system must be finely tuned to allow for sharp turns and quick adjustments. This will involve careful programming of the AUV’s thrusters or control surfaces to handle rapid direction changes. Judges will evaluate the AUV on its ability to follow the slalom path accurately, the fluidity of its movements, and its overall speed through the course.
The Slalom Race is a high-energy task that simulates real-world scenarios requiring agile underwater navigation, testing both the vehicle's design and its control software.
