In the Path Tracking task, the AUV must demonstrate its ability to follow a straight course over a distance of 2 to 3 meters. This task challenges the vehicle’s navigation systems to maintain an accurate and steady trajectory, reflecting its proficiency in directional control and straight-line navigation.

The AUV will start from a designated point, and its goal is to travel along a defined straight path without veering off course. During this task, judges will evaluate the AUV’s ability to use sensors and control systems to follow the path accurately. This includes the integration of sensors such as IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units) and other navigational tools that help the AUV stay on track.

Teams must ensure that their vehicle can maintain a stable heading and minimize drift caused by underwater currents or minor mechanical inconsistencies. The AUV’s speed, alignment with the path, and precision in following the straight line will be closely monitored.

The Path Tracking task is an important test of the AUV’s core navigational abilities, ensuring that it can move in a controlled and predictable manner, which is crucial for more complex missions later in the competition.
